538 Works is the practice of Seb Ferrão, an architect and maker based in London. The work covers buildings, interiors, furniture and fabrication, with drawing, prototyping and building each informing the others.
Wood House, a timber home on a tight London site, is the most complete example so far. I designed it and built much of it myself, and a lot of what it taught me happened between the drawing and the building.
Most projects involve making something by hand at some point, whether a prototype, a joint or a piece of furniture. That's usually where the best decisions get made. If you're working on something where that matters, I'd like to hear about it.
